The gently drifting waters and sand banks of Lake MacDonnell in early spring.
The dried pink salt crystals fringe the banks which are held together with mallee scrub. This area, south of Penong at the eastern end of the Nullarbor Plain has the meringue like features of the Chadinga Sand Dunes rising as a barrier between the Southern Ocean and the lake itself.
